With 110 sworn officers and 30 civilian personnel, the Palatine Police Department is able to provide services to all Palatine residents. With a Neighborhood Policing program, the village of Palatine is divided into seven patrol beats, enabling the assigned officers to become familiar with their geographical beat and provide proactive services. Other crime prevention programs administered by the Palatine Police Department include a Neighborhood Watch, Internet Safety for Parents, Helping Hand Safety House, Bicycle Safety & Registration, Child Seat Inspection and Home & Commercial Security Surveys.
Many Palatine Police Officers have received a significant amount of specialty
training in areas such as K-9, Bicycle Officer, Motorcycle Officer, Crime Prevention
Officer, Juvenile Officer, Accident Reconstruction, Crime Scene Technicians,
Criminal Investigator, and Gang Crimes Investigator.

The Palatine Fire Department responds to, on average, 7000 calls per year, 70% of them being medically related. The department prides itself on a fast response time, and can be at most calls within four to six minutes.
The Palatine Fire Department has five fire stations, all of which are equipped
with a fire engine and ambulance. Available within the Palatine Fire Department
is a fire engine equipped with a 95 foot ladder. A minimum of twenty people
are on active duty working a 24 hour shift. All Palatine Firefighters are certified
paramedics, and many are also trained in specialty areas such as above/below
ground rescue, water rescue and hazardous materials.
