The Palatine Library is ranked among the top five libraries in the nation, due to the high percentage of residents that utilize the library’s services. The Palatine Library has been in its current location since 1993 in a 96,000 square foot building. With nearly 300,000 items in the print collection and over 37,000 in the audio-visual collection, nearly 85,000 Palatine residents are registered patrons of the Palatine Library.
Special collections include the Career Center, with resources on resume writing, applying for jobs, preparing for standardized tests, and selecting colleges. The Palatine Library also offers a Health Center with books and videos and a Travel Center, containing guidebooks, informational videos, pamphlets and magazines useful for trip planning.
The Palatine Library has recently opened the Rand Road Branch, located within the Northeast Community Resource Center. This branch of the Palatine Library features a full range of library materials including internet access.
The Palatine Library also offers bookmobile service, which is a mobile library that stops at public schools and large apartment complexes. The Palatine Library Bookmobile carries more than 4,000 books in English, Spanish, Russian, and other foreign languages.
